How is my life different now that I know about Internal Family Systems?
I understand why I do strange things now. I understand why other people do strange things too. I am kinder to myself, and more forgiving. I have more patience with others, even when they are super annoying 😉 I have new tools when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed, and I have a way of healing my vulnerable, wounded parts that is like no other.
IFS isn’t a magic bullet (I wish). It doesn’t remove suffering from our lives in an instant, and I remain a fallible and foolish work-in-progress. I do, however, feel like a surgeon with a revolutionary new surgical instrument, or a very short-sighted person with a fancy new pair of glasses. Everything is so much clearer!
In brief, IFS proposes that we have different parts inside us, with their own agendas and histories, and that these parts interact in much the same way as members of a family. If we tune into their wisdom and get curious about their relationships with each other, so much is revealed. You can read my full introduction (with puppies) here.
This course will be a dip-your-toe-into-IFS for complete beginners, and a chance for those who have some knowledge of the system to travel with lovely companions. It will include weekly messages with exercises, delivered to your inbox, and a safe online space to share your experience with fellow travellers. We’ll cover how to tune into different parts, the positive intentions of parts, how to look at the relationships between your parts, Self Energy and more. It won’t take huge amounts of time - maybe ten minutes a day - and you can work at your own pace.

There is no Zoom - apologies I'm not sure if I said something misleading - the course is this email + 3 others + the exercises and sharing your experiences on this post & reading other's experiences.
