A friend sent me this link to a real kick-ass (gently) poem by Gwendolyn Brooks: https://poetrysociety.org/poetry-in-motion/speech-to-the-young-speech-to-the-progress-toward-among-them-nora-and-henry-iii

I love this! A moving and deep commitment. Thank you for doing this. Too bad it happens at 3am here in Toronto.

Ah thanks Fran - much appreciated. Maybe you could run a morning meeting of your own sometimes? I'm hoping someone might fancy doing that and step forwards... let's see! But don't get up at 3am 😉

Open to possibilities.

Great... options... you could just have a personal practice for yourself every morning/a few times a week and say a prayer/do some contemplation, or you could open a space up for other people and I can let folk know through the website etc? If you're interested in the latter and want to check in do let me know, satya@satyarobyn.com!

I am a member of the Toronto Zen Centre and a member of our little Engaged Buddhism group there & we have been exploring the hunger-climate change relationship. This may be something for us to consider. Or I may do something on my own.

Great!! Maybe have a chat with them and see what they say - another option is to do a vigil without a prayer - 30 or 60 mins of sitting in a pubic place... we have a local group who've been doing that for 3 years now once a week and it's a lovely thing to do and a great way of doing something in public that isn't 'threatening'. If you want to talk further about my experience/if there's anything I can do to help etc. just let me know.
