What a beautiful post! When I first saw the title, I assumed this would be about our relationship with ourselves, but of course you are right and even before we were conscious, we were living in relationship to the earth, held and nourished by the earth, tiny pieces of her cut into our own unique shapes. Thank you for helping me to pause and breathe in the beauty of this world!
This is the most beautiful thing I've read on Going Gently. It has moved me and motivated me to order a copy of your book "Dear Earth" in hopes of finding more of like writing there. It reminds me of the book by Thich Nhat Hanh which I believe is called "Love Letters to the Earth."
I saw your comment on Chris LaTray's substack post and had a peek at your substack. I think I followed you many years ago! I still write small stones, a practice that I learned from you. So lovely to re-discover you thru an Indigenous friend here in Montana!
Ah, hello again Evelyn - small world! How wonderful that you're still writing small stones. There are a few others here who do too... maybe I'll do a fresh series on them one day! Good to be in touch again.
I love your words today, your Dear Earth Hello kept me sane in the pandemic and I love doing them still, there is something so helpful to me in the call and response of them. I am grateful today for your words and for the glorious buttercups in the grass of the wild meadow. 🙏
Utterly beautiful and profound Satya. Thank you for your wonderful words.
I'm so glad - thank you for being here Andrea!
How beautiful 🤩
Thank you!

I thought it would be that, too! Was delighted by the surprise
