I love everything about this post, Satya! How it reminds us to be humble in the face of the Earth's bounty, which is never granted, but always Given in so many forms. And the gratitude for the rotten apple, for it being just the way it's supposed to be β€” natural, and therefore prone to decay. Thank you for sharing this reflection with us!

Really lovely . I resonate with your note about supermarkets and spoilt for choice, I walked into one yesterday and was overcome by all the shelves stacked high with stuff we dont really need at all . all we need is an apple 🍏

Yes most of us have so MUCH to choose from these days. Not always a good thing!

Apples are my most favorite thing next to sweet potatoes and llamas. I am fortunate enough to live near three IPM orchards and love to go picking in the fall!

Aw, you're so kind, Satya. Thank you for including my essay, "Trees for Thought," in day #20 of your month-long nature challenge. I loved the apple poem. And I'm really enjoying this series!!

I threw an apple away yesterday too. It was too sharp and juicy. I like the floury soft ones (the soft red ones were always my favourite but you don’t seem to get them anymore). Lovely poem.

Oooh, we would make a perfect pair - I'll eat the sharp juicy ones & you can eat the soft floury ones! Jack Spratt : )

My ancient apple tree gives ample shade but dappled light. It sheds small applets (is that a word?) at this time of year as the weather warms. Yes they go back into the earth via my wild patch, gratefully received. Later in the year if any drop they are sliced in two and composted. So thanks for the apples Satya.

If applets ISN'T a word then it should be... Thank you Martyn.

Oh thank you for this metaphor. In nature there is no waste. In life... even if we think we are not picked or perfect... we always add something.
