Hurray! I'm enjoying writing them very much but that's not always a guarantee that my readers will be satisfied! (and of course you can't keep everyone happy...) (but very glad you are).
Watching the end of Country File last night, seeing twitchers at Snettisham twitching with anticipation as the tide rolled in across the mudflats of the Wash, pushing a carpet of birds ahead of it, waiting for their inevitable mass uprising, I ached to be there too, as witness to this marvel of the natural world and the joy that this would spark.
Thank you for this truthful loveliness, Satya. I’ve been caught up in the subscription thing a bit too. Feeling like I need to write certain things in a certain way to deliver what I should. Then on a walk I saw two deer lying in the morning sun - no pretence, no trying to please - and remembered I just have to be me. I then wrote a very different post than the one I’d been feeling like I needed to write! I went back to the colours and shapes of my yearnings and wrote truthfully about them 💙
Thank you for sharing. I love Substack and what it’s trying to do for writers but I also find myself caught up too often in the “game,” guessing what will people be willing to pay for, how I can get them there, etc. I’ve gotten a bit wayward and am also finding myself back on my path and my Why. Slowly and gently. 💗
This is why I plan to write on Substack. And it’s why I now read on Substack. I am uplifted by stories of the heart - and I hope that when I write mine, I will be able to repay that service.
This is beautiful, Satya. I hope the world can keep finding ways to delight you and rouse you and light you up. I am so glad you are enjoying my book too, thank you so much x
Ah, such a gift to have you here Josie. Thank YOU. I'm hoping you have another book in you (at least) for selfish reasons 🙂 bowing from here in gratitude 🙏🏻
Beautiful words Satya 🥰 for me it was the sunshine yesterday and the warmth after a cold snap, being out with the dog in the field and feeling the air on my skin
I love the quotation about the blackbird. I wish I could write so evocatively. And I am moved by your self-awareness of what you need to do to stay true to yourself and honest with us. Thank you.
I love this so much. Love the idea of getting these connections and glimpses, and us being together with no pressure.

And then I remembered my wheelchair.
Bittersweet. I hear you Caroline.

What a gift from the deer. I think it's an ongoing dilemma for many writers here... I'll try & remember your deer too!
I’ll try and get a picture for you. They’re around a lot!

I'm sure you will :)
I deleted Instagram yesterday. Thanks for your gentle reminders 🫶🏻
Woohoo!!!
Keeping it real with ones True Self. Looking forward than the past. Just the sky, walking, yoga… makes me feel so here and alive ❤️
I smiled through this entire post. Thank you!
Now I'm smiling too...

Your words go to my heart and stir my own yearnings. Hands palm to palm.
🙏🏻
Such eloquent works, so earnestly spoken
like the cool draught of a crystal blue river
wending around the trees roots, bubbling
up, up, up, to the surface of the ground
and rising up like the branches reaching for the skies
just in time to catch me opening my eyes.
✨
Beautiful. Thank you.
Gorgeous. What treasure! 💛💛💛
