Ah yes, gentleness indeed always wins. I very much have a part that wants to PUSH through everything and I've only recently started to get to know that part and slow down to make room for the other parts. I've always heard "slow down to speed up", but you've described it much more beautifully here.
Thanks Jane. I think many of us have these pushing parts - I was going to say especially women, but actually men have a different and equally bad deal here... maybe our pushing parts push us in slightly different directions... so glad you can listen to yours now and offer it some understanding. Thanks for being here!
"To go as fast as we could, we needed to go at the pace of the slowest part of me." That's the pithiest summary of one of the most complicated intrapersonal dynamics I've ever heard. Thank you, Satya!
A week back “home” with pushy parts demanding to see so many people and places! And now packing me up to leave with promises that we can sort out all the emotion commotion later. The airplane! I can’t believe I didn’t think about making it an IFS flight until now. Love how your words nudged this intention. And though a gleeful pushy part is already antsy to begin, I will go gently, and as my good friend Christina Baldwin says, “at the pace of guidance.”
An IFS flight - LOVE that! I often use my morning Earth prayer meditation time as an IFS space - I don't check in with my parts as often as I'd like to - it always helps... and I love that phrase too - thank you to Christina!
“Move at the pace of guidance” is from her book, The Seven Whispers, which I love and highly recommend. After 20+ years, it’s going out of print soon.
I know what you mean about not checking in with parts enough, and I’m taking your words as a nudge to use morning time for that instead of waiting until they scream at me. Thank you!
Thank you for this, Satya. I feel emotional reading this because all of this feels very present for me. I actually tried to write a bit about it yesterday and the phrase 'handle with care', which is with me too. I am going to sit with your questions and the point around pushing. I know there are parts of me that are pushing to feel 'better' and 'normal' like NOW. Appreciate you <3
Ah glad it resonated Janelle - I hear the tenderness around this for you - parts that are fed up of being pushed, the tiredness of the pushers... wishing you gentleness and understanding - of course parts of you want you to be better and normal now - it's tough for them! Thanks for being here x
I sent you a fb message because I couldn’t get your contact page on your website to open. ☺️
I didn't see it unless you are also Mary Ellen? Not sure why that happened it's working okay for me - my email is satya@satyarobyn.com.
Gentleness is true power
Totally agree.
Appreciative of your gentle wisdom. xo
Appreciate you letting me know x

So glad to have found you here!
Ah that's lovely to hear 😊

Ah, thanks Kelly. I'm just passing it on : )
I think it was Richard Rohr who said that "all wisdom is borrowed." Thanks for passing it on. 😊
