Thank you for mentioning Trump 😂 I think we sometimes undermine the power our leaders have and their influence they have on leading our society towards self discovery (or not 😅)

Oh yes. I guess it's a two way thing, as there's something in us (or a lot of us!) that wants Trump....... 😬

I (imperfectly) quoted this article today with my therapist - mostly the "Of course..." part. The tenderness of it. I also pointed her here. (We are doing IFS work, which I think I've told you before.)

Thank you so so much. Your work is a gift.

I'm so glad Jean. Sometimes they say when the student is ready the teacher/teaching appears... sometimes it feels like magic : )

I certainly can't remember reading an article more relevant to me.

When I got a rejection from my first-choice college, my mother (and alcohol) responded by saying "I told you that you would never get into college." I knew on one level that she was so wrong, but she was my mother. I suspect I might have internalized the - "you will never" part.

The part of your post that really resonated with me was - "You always fail at everything eventually . . . You are not enough." I have to ask you a personal question, Have you been channeling my mother? All kidding aside, I really appreciate your post and will be passing it on

Haha Mark maybe I WAS channelling your mother : ) or mine... So glad it felt true for you - just feeling understood/not alone can be so powerful. I hope you can continue getting to know these parts of you - you know I'm an IFS nut but there are all sorts of ways. The Universe will show you what's next. Maybe EI by Goleman! Thanks for being here & for your honesty.

Ahh - to be understood and not alone. It is a pleasure being here - and you're welcome Satya.

My childhood created a number of behaviors that did not translate well in adulthood. My first step forward was counseling and was given a book titled “Emotional Intelligence” by Daniel Goleman. It helped me understand the link between who we are and what shaped us. That “why” and “how” opened a door I’ve been walking through ever since. Thank you Satya.

Satya can you recommend a book on IFS that is simple enough for me to understand. Thank you for this mornings read. Attending to my 'nest' today. Well, making a start anyway. X

Restacking so I can keep rereading. At 56, I’m amazed at the work I have yet to do. But I’m also much gentler with myself.

Hurray for being gentler with yourself! I'm amazed at 49 at the work I have to do, and am also feeling more okay about some of that stuff not every getting 'fixed' - maybe easing a little, maybe not, just as I am, just as you are. Thanks for being here Marianne.

Thank you, Satya, just what I needed to hear today. I'm off sick with a bad cold and taking time off work triggers a lot of feelings about being incompetent and worthless :( practice for today is seeing that and holding it gently.

Oh, how affirming to read such a description of how we are, and how we can both 'do nothing' and 'do more' to love ourselves and then others...

How do you describe my burdens so well? And to read the Andrew de Mello quote at the end is exactly what help me lighten the load of these burdens. Almost those exact words from a very true friend.
