I am so glad to have read this article this morning Satya! You write on the subject beautifully!
IFS played such an important part in the journey of befriending myself and is so fully the lens I see through now that I had sort of forgotten that it was a way of seeing that was taught to me. I am feeling such gratitude this morning for all the writers who are my teachers. Thank you for your lovely Substack ❤️
Right now my “doing absolutely nothing part” is holding the ace card!
I’m shattered and have very little to give anyone else….. so I’m lying with my feet up, in my caravan listening to the blackbird outside the window. I can see the sky above and the tips of the trees. Nothing else.
Non of my other parts are invited! I’m here alone!
At the moment I am struggling with the "getting it right" part who is very concerned that I pick the right part to get to know this week. ;-) My first thought was I should focus on the timekeeper - the part that believes there is never enough time. But then I thought about the Distractor part - she wants me to snack or check my phone. And my challenge in choosing the part reminds me of how I always get stuck when I'm doing an exercise that asks me to imagine a challenging moment, or a healing scene, or a happy scene. I get so stuck on choosing the "right" image or scene or focus that I can never do the exercise. So I suppose maybe it is the "Getting it Right" part that is a good place to start....
Love this Elaine - beautiful part clocking! Sounds like your getting it right part takes their job very seriously and works hard for you... A reminder to them all that they can all get in the queue of they'd like attention & that you'll get to them all eventually (if that feels OK to you!) 😊
Hi Elaine, trying hard to get the ‘right’ response is sooo tricky when there are so many ‘right’ bits to choose!! And which part of you gets to choose?! And what actually is ‘right’?
Each part of us would choose something different!!
The richness of multiple parts makes for such diversity….😊
That's an interesting way to think about it -- the reason it is hard to choose is that all the parts are clamoring to have their needs met. I like that.

So happy to hear that IFS has been helpful to you Jenny. There are so many amazing teachers out there aren't there? Thank you for being here.
